Welcome to Aloha!
Nestled in the quiet community of Lakewood, CA, Aloha Elementary is a treasure box of teaching, learning, and growing. The core values of education and educating the child as a whole have never been stronger, and with the support of our new Magnet program, our students will not only advance in their academics, but also in their extracurricular interests.

Aloha Elementary School is comprised of a diverse student population and a devoted, caring staff. We take great pride in continually implementing our school vision of dedicating ourselves to ensuring the academic success of every student, and providing a safe and comprehensive educational experience. Our classrooms engage student learning through unique and creative lessons that help each child become a lifelong learner. Additionally, teachers go above and beyond their duties to help benefit their students by seeking resources and partnerships in the local community to reinforce foundations, emphasize current grade level standards, and highlight attractive components of our new Magnet. Our school is a prized opportunity that will enrich every child that attends.

A Thematic Approach
The foundation of our Health Medical Academy begins in our Head Start Preschool Program by being consistent with common language that is used throughout the entire school to grade six. As students engage in curriculum enriched with health and medical information, they become academically advantaged, and are valuable resources for the health medical industry. A school wide scope and sequence is in place to ensure integration of our magnet theme with the California State Standards. Not only are themes connected within each grade, but also through a continuum that is existent vertically, as each child moves to the next grade level. When students begin their educational journey at our Academy, they will participate in each of the following magnet themes:
• Living Things and the Human Machine
• Why we get sick
• Taking care of ourselves - Mind, Body, and Soul
• Those who serve, those who keep us healthy
• Medical Pioneers and their discoveries

A Healthy Focus
Aloha Elementary is dedicated to the health and physical education of the child. Recently, Aloha received national recognition through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a partnership of the William J. Clinton Foundation and the American Heart Association for excellence in creating a healthier school environment. Aloha also has a strong partnership with the Network for a Healthy California, which is a federally funded program to help students eat healthier foods and be more physically active. Through this program, students participate in Harvest of the Month, where students taste test a different fruit or vegetable while learning about its health benefits through a standards based workbook. Students are recognized for eating fruits and vegetables during recess through a program called Caught Eating Healthy, an innovative research based program. Teachers at Aloha believe that students will eat healthy foods if they are provided to them. A Farm Stand is set up for students to purchase fruits after school to further reinforce the message that a healthy body equals a healthy mind.

Additionally, teachers have been trained in SPARKS P.E. This unique program makes sure that students are having fun and being active 100% of the time during physical education. This resource also comes with highly involved activities and equipment that engage all students in a top notch fitness routine. Students also participate in other programs where they learn how to make healthy foods such as Adventures in Cooking and Breakfast Lessonss.

Cutting Edge Technology
Aloha Elementary has modern technology everywhere on campus. Each classroom is equipped with student computers to help teach computer skills that students will need to research, manage data, and communicate in the world of the 21st century. Additionally, each classroom has a LED projector, ELMO, and flat screen T.V. to better enhance the students’ learning experience in all areas of their academic education.

Aloha has a state-of-the-art computer lab, accompanied with a full time computer teacher who aides in fine tuning and enhancing student skills. The computer lab has extended morning and afternoon hours to assist students and staff with additional projects or help that is needed. Furthermore, mobile carts hold class sets of student laptops and the school has wireless Internet. When necessary, the teacher can bring the world of knowledge right to the students’ desk, and the class instantly has access to information at their fingertips.
