ABC’s Award Winning Magnet Schools
Many of the fine magnet schools in ABC have been recognized with prestigious awards on both the national and state level.
National Blue Ribbon School
Leal Elementary School, a visual and performing arts magnet and Tetzlaff Middle School, an accelerated learning magnet, has been named a Blue Ribbon School. The award is considered to be the highest honor that an American school can achieve. It honors Leal for their strong leadership, high quality teaching, challenging and up-to-date curriculum, and its commitment to helping all children achieve high goals. Tetzlaff is also a Golden Bell award winner.
California Distinguished Schools
California Distinguished School is awarded to public schools that best represent exemplary and quality educational programs. The award is given to approximately the top five percent of California Schools. Elliot Elementary School, and their World Navigators Magnet Program, Leal Elementary School’s Arts in Motion Magnet Program, Nixon Elementary's Academy of Multimedia Arts Production, Tetzlaff Middle School and it's Accelerated Learning Academy and Ross Middle School’s Academy of Creative and Media Arts Program have been honored with this prestigious award.
(Ross was also a finalist for the Los Angeles Music Center Bravo Awards.)
National Magnet School Awards
Carver Academy, a Communication Arts Magnet Elementary School, was recognized as the best new magnet school in the United States. Magnet Schools of America also recognized Elliot Elementary School, World Navigators Program, Niemes Elementary School of Environmental Science and Technology, and Ross Middle School Academy of
Creative and Media Arts as Magnet Schools of Distinction.
Title I Academic Achievement Award
Aloha Elementary School's Health Medical Academy, Elliot Elementary School, and their World Navigators Magnet Program have been honored with this prestigious award, as well as Ross Middle School Academy of Creative and Media Arts’ Program.
